Felipe Drugovich converted his pole position into the Feature Race victory at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
The Formula 2 race weekend in Saudi Arabia concluded with the Feature Race on Sunday afternoon.
The race start was aborted and the drivers had another formation lap. Also, the race distance was reduced to 27 laps.
The race went underway from the second attempt. The polesitter Felipe Drugovich stayed in the lead, ahead of Richard Verschoor and Marcus Armstrong.
By the end of the opening lap, Liam Lawson overtook Armstrong for P3. Verschoor managed to stay within a second behind Drugovich when the DRS was enabled, so he was able to put pressure. However, after several more laps, the MP Motorsport driver increased his advantage to almost 2 seconds.
Behind them, Ayumu Iwasa and Juri Vips overtook Ralph Boschung, who was in 5th. The Campos Racing driver kept losing pace and let Dennis Hauger pass. Furthermore, he was given a 5-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining advantage.
Theo Pourchaire faced a mechanical issue and had to go to the pits to retire from the race.
At the same time, the pit stop cycle started. Drugovich and Armstrong got new tires on lap 9. Verschoor stayed out in an attempt to make an overcut.
The Dutchman stopped on the next lap, but rejoined the track behind Drugovich. Meanwhile, Lawson stopped at the pit lane exit because of a loose wheel.
Hauger got the virtual lead as he was on alternative strategy. Jack Doohan and Clement Novalak followed him. Doohan passed Novalak, but left the track, so he had to give the position back. A lap later, the Australian had another attempt, which was successful.
Drugovich came back to the race lead on lap 24 after all the drivers on alternative strategy went for a mandatory pit stop. Yellow flags were waved in sector 1 on the last lap due to Frederik Vesti’s spin.
Drugovich was unreachable for his opponents and won the race. Verschoor was second, while Jehan Daruvala crossed the finish line in P3 after starting 14th.
