Christian Horner praised Sergio Perez, who got the pole position for the Saudi Arabian GP.

Perez took his first career pole position on Saturday evening in Jeddah. In his final attempt, he managed to beat the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. After the session, Horner shared his thoughts about the Mexican’s performance.

“Whatever he had for lunch, breakfast and dinner last night, we’re going to give him the same tomorrow,” he joked on Sky Sports.

“It was a phenomenal performance from him and I’m just so, so happy for him.

“He’s worked incredibly hard and I think the car this year is more suited to his style. It’s not quite as quirky as last year’s car, and he’s done a great job there.”

Horner also stated that the success in qualifying would increase Perez’s confidence for the race.

“Well, Saturdays, I think, by his own admission, have never been the strongest part of his armory.

“He’s always come alive on race day, so to deliver that kind of performance, at this circuit, that’s great for him.

“It will do his confidence a world of good and we just need to convert that into a great result tomorrow.”
