Aston Martin have confirmed that Nico Hulkenberg will stand in for Sebastian Vettel at this weekend’s Saudi Arabian GP.

Vettel was forced to miss the Bahrain GP due to a positive COVID-19 test `and Hulkenberg replaced him. Vettel had a week to return a negative test to be cleared to race, but it did not happen and he would have to miss a second race in a row.

“Nico Hulkenberg will practice, qualify, and race alongside Lance Stroll,” the team statement read.

“Despite lack of mileage in the AMR22, Nico coped well in Bahrain and we are sure he will do likewise in Jeddah.

“We expect Sebastian Vettel to be fit for the Australian GP.”
