Theo Pourchaire admits that the race starts are “mentally difficult” for him since the crash in Saudi Arabia.

Pourchaire and Enzo Fittipaldi had a horrible crash at the start of the Formula 2 Fearure Race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Both were sent to hospital. While Pourchaire avoided injuries, Fittipaldi had a broken heel.

Pourchaire won the Feature Race in Bahrain last week, but did not have a good getaway and dropped down to 4th at the start. The ART GP driver revealed that the crash made an impact on his starts.

“I struggled a bit. Since what happened in Jeddah last year, I’m not super, super confident at every start. I need to work a bit on that,” he said.

“It’s not easy, I still have some images in my head of what happened. And it’s difficult. Mentally, it’s difficult. But I will work on that.

“It happened and I know the feeling of that now. And yeah, I would try to not do it again.

“I don’t have any mental issues or things like that but it’s not easy. It’s not easy to not think about that. But it’s okay.”
