Charles Leclerc said Ferrari couldn’t have hoped for a better start to the season after finishing 1-2 at the Bahrain GP.
The Monegasque dominated the race and converted his pole position into victory. His teammate, who was benefitted from Verstappen’s problems, finished behind him and made it a 1-2 for Ferrari.
“The last two years have been difficult for the team, and we knew this was going to be a big opportunity,” Leclerc said in the post-race interview.
“The guys did an amazing job building this car. 1-2 today with Carlos… We couldn’t hope for better.
“Thank you for all of you [the fans] who kept supporting [Ferrari] in these last two years, it hasn’t been easy.”
