Valtteri Bottas admits it “should be fun” to start the Bahrain Grand Prix alongside his former teammate, Lewis Hamilton.
Bottas has been replaced by George Russell at Mercedes, which was last year’s top team. However, with the introduction of the new regulations, the Silver Arrows are struggling while other teams get more advantages – Alfa Romeo is one.
Bottas will start tomorrow’s race in P6 alongside Hamilton, who qualified in P5.
“We’re starting side by side, it’s pretty cool,” the Finnish driver said.
“I just saw him [Hamilton] and we were both smiling. It should be fun.
“If somebody had told me in Bahrain we’re going to be starting side by side with Lewis, I’d take it.
“But yeah, this is the beginning, the starting point for our journey. Now we need to make sure we’re looking ahead and trying to look forward rather than backwards. So it’s exciting.”
