Issues continue at Mercedes as both drivers struggled once again with porpoising, bouncing sometimes dramatically through the main straight. The Silver Arrows have got some work to do before being in their best shape.

Max Verstappen showed a strong performance through the entirety of the session, but so did both Ferrari drivers who were close at all times, though Carlos Sainz reported issues in the closing stages.

Haas’ Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen gave a promising drive for the American team, placing 8th and 10th respectively – the team’s decision last year to ditch the season and focus in 2022 might have been the right decision.

The last spots on the grid were filled by Williams – with Nicholas Latifi and Alexander Albon placing 19th and 20th respectively.

It was a disappointing session for McLaren once again, as both drivers struggled to fill top positions as the team continues to struggle with technical issues.
