Charles Leclerc states that Red Bull Racing are ahead of Ferrari prior to the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Ferrari are believed to be one of the favorites ahead of the start of the 2022 F1 season after strong performance in the pre-season testing. However, Leclerc believes the Maranello-based outfit is not the leader at the moment.
“I don’t want to say it’s our best [pre-season], because then people will straight away come to the conclusion that we are ahead of everyone, and that’s not the case,” he said.
“I think we are a bit behind Red Bull.”
The Monegasque also assumes that porpoising will be “the biggest challenge” of the race weekend.
“Bouncing, I think, will be the biggest challenge, especially for the race.
“It depends a lot on the conditions, and where the wind is coming from, so we might have some [porpoising], and the race is quite long, so it’s going to be pretty bumpy.”
