Aston Martin has confirmed that Sebastian Vettel contracted the coronavirus and will be unable to participate in the Bahrain GP.

Vettel got the positive test recently, so he will not be able to leave the isolation before the start of the race weekend. He will be replaced by Aston Martin’s reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg. It will be his first appearance since the 2020 Eifel GP.

“Sebastian Vettel has tested positive for COVID-19 and will therefore not be taking part in the 2022 Bahrain GP,” the team statement read.

“Replacing him in the AMR22 will be reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg, who will be in the car from FP1 onwards.”
