Nikita Mazepin has announced it will start a foundation to help those Russian athletes who’ve been sacked from their sports after the invasion of Ukraine.

The majority of sports organizations around the world have banned Russian athletes and teams from taking part in official championships after dictator Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Now, after being fired from Haas, Mazepin announced it will start a foundation called “We Compete As One” to help those athletes with jobs, financial and legal aid.

“We will be providing jobs, financial support, psychological and legal aid in case the athletes wish to debate their position. The foundation will be called We Compete As One,” Nikita said.

The foundation, whose name’s very similar to Formula 1’s initiative of “We Race As One,” will be financed by the Mazepins themselves – Nikita’s father, an oligarch with close ties to Putin, is the majority owner of Uralkali.
