Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was delighted with how the first day of testing the new 2022 car at Barcelona went.

The Dutch driver completed 147 laps around the circuit – the highest of the day. Speaking about it afterward, Verstappen noted the differences the new car has compared to last year’s.

“The car is completely different. I think the RB18 looks good but, of course, it’s about being fast [and] we hope to see that.

“Today it was about doing a lot of laps, getting used to the car, and getting an idea of how the car behaves.”

Verstappen was left satisfied after the first day of testing, stating that “everything worked fine, so it was a good start.”

“Tonight we will see what we can already learn and take with us to tomorrow, when Checo [Perez] is in the car.”
