Valtteri Bottas believes that it will be tough for George Russell to beat Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.
After 3 years at Williams, Russell joined Mercedes and became Hamilton’s newest teammate. The 24-year-old had impressive performances in one of the slowest cars on the grid, especially in qualifying, which convinced the Silver Arrows to promote their young driver.
Though Russell is expected to be a threat for the 7-time world champion, Bottas, who was Hamilton’s teammate from 2017 to 2021, has another opinion.
“I don’t see anyone else beating Lewis in the near future in the same machinery,” the Finn told SunSport.
At the same time, Bottas thinks that Russell will not have issues with adapting to the team.
“George will adjust well because he has been with Mercedes for some years. But beating Lewis is not easy. I have experienced that.”
