Porsche and Red Bull are allegedly on the verge of striking a Formula 1 partnership deal, starting from 2026.
The VW Group was rumored to be joining F1 for months. Furthermore, it was reported that they might cooperate with either McLaren or Red Bull under the Audi or Porsche branding. Though the VW Group has not officilly confirmed their commitment to F1 yet, they reportedly reached a deal with one of the teams.
According to Motorsport-Total.com, the VW Group will work with Red Bull starting from 2026, when the new power unit regulations will be introduced. The agreement only needs to approved by the supervisory bodies at the VW Group, which may happen in March.
One of the aspects that may have motivated Porsche to join forces with Red Bull is the Red Bull Powertrains facility in Milton Keynes. It can help make the power unit development more flexible. More than that, the negotiations have likely been conducted by the Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko and the VW Group head of motorsport Fritz Enzinger who are compatriots.
