Oscar Piastri has spoken about his duties as the Alpine reserve driver in the upcoming Formula 1 season.

The reigning Formula 2 champion will be on the sidelines in 2022 as he has not got an F1 seat. However, he will be Alpine’s reserve driver this year, which involves a lot of activities. Piastri is delighted with it as it shows that Alpine count on him.

“I’ll be pretty busy despite not doing that much driving we are putting together a big testing program,” Piastri told Auto Action.

“In the last couple of years, there hasn’t been that many young reserve drivers, certainly not many young reserve drivers that are the sole driver in that role, so I think that speaks volumes about Alpine’s commitment to me.

“Also putting together this testing program… it’s quite substantial. I don’t think it’s a program that we would have seen for a young driver for quite some time, which is fantastic as well.”
