Seth Quintero had an opportunity to beat the record for most stage victories at one edition of the Dakar Rally. However, he was not the leader at the opening waypoint – he was 8 seconds behind the leader Cristina Gutierrez Herrero.

Quintero came back to the lead at the next waypoint after Gutierrez Herrero lost almost 20 minutes. Francisco Lopez Contardo and Sebastian Eriksson were behind.

Quintero built an enormous gap from Eriksson and Lopez Contardo to win his 11th stage in 2022 and break the record.
