The Maserati CEO Davide Grasso has provided information about whether Maserati will come back to Formula 1 in the foreseeable future.

Maserati have announced lately that they will join Formula E in 2023, making a single-seater racing return.

Maserati were among the leaders in Formula 1 in the 1950s with 9 pole positions, 9 victories, and 2 Drivers’ Championships in 43 races. With the new power unit regulations set to be introduced in F1 in 2026, Maserati may try to make a return. More than that, Grasso has not ruled this out.

“The other championship being the one that is led by my friend Stefano Domenicali, is that the speculation? Time will tell. We will wait. Let’s focus on Formula E and my good friend Alejandro [Agag] here. It’s a big step for us,” he said.

“Formula 1 clearly has been the leading championship, defining championship in motor racing for cars. It’s a great competition and Maserati has won there, the world championship with Juan Manuel Fangio many years ago. So your question is not out of place. My answer would be out of place right now.”
