Stefano Domenicali reveals that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic can make an impact on the 2022 Formula 1 calendar.

The previous two F1 seasons were affected by the pandemic as numerous races were either rescheduled or canceled. The daily cases are now rising all across the globe and new restrictions can be implemented. The F1 CEO states that the upcoming season may also have some adjustments because of that.

“We must continue not to underestimate the corona pandemic. We might have to adjust the calendar again in 2022,” Domenicali told Sport 1.

He has also spoken about F1’s calendar plans in the future: “The USA is important for us and we are working hard to make Miami 2022 a success.

“The other region we cannot underestimate is the Far East, especially with Guanyu Zhou, who now drives for Alfa Romeo. Interest from China is growing, so the region will also become our focus.

“A comeback in Africa – whether in the north or the south – would be great.”
