Lightweight Prototype

Seth Quintero dominated the LW class in stage 4 and started today’s special at the head of the field. However, the American did not show any sign of slowing down. He led Cristina Gutierrez Herrero by 51 seconds by the first waypoint.

Unfortunately, Gutierrez Herrero would follow in Quintero’s wake until sometime between 121km and 159km. The Spaniard dropped to 6th, over 11 minutes off the lead. It was Sebastian Eriksson who claimed P2 by the fourth checkpoint, running 5 minutes shy of the lead.

Quintero continued to extend his lead for the remainder of the special and he claimed another dominant victory in the LW class. Sebastian Eriksson found himself 8 minutes off the American, with Lopez Contardo just 43 seconds further behind.

Marek Goczal led Rodrigo Luppi de Oliveira over the first few waypoints, gradually increasing his advantage to 29 seconds by the 121km mark.

Kariakin topped the timing sheets until the 252km waypoint, where de Oliveira jumped to the lead by 34 seconds. Marek Goczal managed to climb back to the podium, securing 3rd place two waypoints from the end.

By the end of the special, Kariakin had dropped to 3rd, 4 minutes off the final fastest time. This fastest time was held by Rodrigo Luppi de Oliveira, who beat Marek Goczal to the win by 2 and a half minutes.

Trucks

Andrey Karginov jumped to 1st place at the first waypoint, attempting to find redemption following a ruined stage 4 due to mechanical issues. He led Dmitry Sotnikov by 5 seconds at kilometer 81, with the remaining Kamaz drivers following behind.

Both Karginov and Sotnikov were absent from the list of drivers who passed through the fourth time check. However, the pair lept back to the lead 38km later at the fifth waypoint. This time, Sotnikov snatched the lead from Karginov until he dropped to 3rd by the 199th km. Karginov stayed on top, navigating the stage 1 minute and 45 seconds quicker than Ales Loprais.

Karginov sealed a victory after a woeful experience in stage 4, prevailing over Dmitry Sotnikov by 4 and a half minutes. Anton Shibalov followed a further 2 minutes back, with Eduard Nikolaev helping to make it a dominant 1-2-3-4 for Kamaz.
