The stage 4 winner in the cars category Nasser Al-Attiyah has spoken about his performance on Wednesday.

Al-Attiyah originally had the 2nd best time of the day, but after Yazeed Al-Rajhi’s time penalty, the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver moved up to P1. After the stage, Al-Attiyah reflected on the performance and spoke about his strategy.

“It wasn’t too easy because we caught up with several vehicles at the start of the special and we decided to play it safe,” he said.

“The finale was very difficult, especially the part in the wadi, with plenty of navigation. Matthieu did an excellent job and I’m pleased. We are moving in the right direction day after day.

“We tried to set a high pace, but our plan was not having to open tomorrow because there will be no bikes and, therefore, no tracks. But, even if we falter a bit tomorrow in these conditions, it will put us in a favorable position for the next day.”
