Manuel Andujar, Michal Goczal, and Andrey Karginov took home the win in stage 2 at the 2022 Dakar Rally in the quads, SSVs, and trucks.

The battle for the lead in the quads category is closer than ever. The top three were separated by only 10 seconds at the start of stage 2, which is 568 km long.

The hard task of starting the stage and opening the way to other participants fell on Laisvydas Kancius. The latter had already fallen back to P7 after 40 km, while Manuel Andujar was in the lead. Last year’s Dakar winner was followed by Alexandre Giroud and Italo Pedemonte.

At km 118, Andujar was still leading ahead of Pedemonte with a gap of 1 minute and 15 seconds. Giroud lost one position and was in the 3rd place. Meanwhile, Kamil Wisniewski, who was fifth at the second checkpoint had some issues and did not reach the third one.

After getting off on the right foot, Pedemonte lost almost 30 minutes, meaning he was not in P2 anymore. Giroud and Pablo Copetti were now second and third, behind Andujar.

Giovanni Enrico started stage 2 in the top five. However, after a problem with his exhaust pipe, he could not go on anymore. More drama happened after Vincent Padrona, who was seventh, suffered mechanical issues. He is trying to fix the problems to resume the race.

Andujar comfortably won stage 2 ahead of Giroud and Copetti by 2 and 5 minutes respectively.

I am an Italian guy. I love Motorsport because of the emotions that it gives me and I grew up watching races. That's what I love!
