Franz Tost has shared his thoughts on Yuki Tsunoda’s aggressive team radio messages in the 2021 Formula 1 season.

One of the aspects that defined Tsunoda’s rookie F1 season was his team radio comments. The young Japanese often used expletive language when there were issues. Tost revealed that he had addressed the problem to Tsunoda.

“You can say to him, ‘Please don’t say this, it’s not good for your image, it’s not good for the team, be quiet’ and then he closes the visor, sits in the car, has a problem for whatever reason, and he gets upset,” the AlphaTauri team principal said.

At the same time, Tost admitted that such behavior was inevitable when driving an F1 car.

“People must understand this is an F1 car. There must be an aggression from the drivers, it’s not just rolling around. They must have this adrenaline otherwise they can’t show this performance.”
