According to several sources, Audi are on the brink of announcing that they will join Formula 1 in 2026.

F1 is now very close to welcoming a new manufacturer to the sport. After the rumors about Volkswagen Group’s possible F1 entry have circulated in the world of motorsports for weeks, it can become a reality.

One of the main conditions on which Volkswagen Group is ready to join F1 is the removal of the MGU-H with the introduction of the new power unit regulations. The FIA World Motor Sport Council announced last week that the MGU-H would not be a power unit element in 2026.

It has been revealed that the Audi chiefs Markus Duesmann and Oliver Hoffmann confirmed in their letter to the F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and the former FIA president Jean Todt that the manufacturer is almost ready to announce its commitment to the sport and it can happen at the start of 2022.
