Helmut Marko criticizes Mercedes’ protests lodged after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, calling them “sore losers.”

The title decider at the Yas Marina Circuit had a dramatic ending as Max Verstappen made a last-lap pass on Lewis Hamilton to win the 2021 championship.

However, Mercedes claimed that the Safety Car procedures at the end of the race were violated as well as Verstappen illegally overtook Hamilton during the Safety Car period, so they lodged two protests after the race. Both protests were dismissed, though the Silver Arrows confirmed their intention to appeal the decisions.

Marko revealed that he was not happy with Mercedes’ actions after the race was over.

“What happened is unworthy of a world title race,” the Red Bull Racing advisor said.

“It says a lot about their mentality. I think they are sore losers. That’s their attitude, it’s been like that all season.

“We don’t care, we are the moral winners – whether it comes left or right.”
