Nikita Mazepin is forced to miss the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after contracting the coronavirus.
The Haas driver will not take part in the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi due to a positive COVID-19 test.
“Uralkali Haas F1 Team driver Nikita Mazepin has tested positive for COVID-19 at the Yas Marina Circuit ahead of Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The team therefore regrets to announce that Nikita will be unable to participate in the race,” the Haas statement reads.
“Nikita is physically well, having been asymptomatic, but he will now self-isolate and adhere to the guidelines of the relevant public health authorities, with safety the ultimate priority for all parties concerned.”
Haas cannot make a driver change as all practices and qualifying have been completed. This means that 19 cars will be on the grid on Sunday and only Mick Schumacher will represent Haas in the race.
