Christian Horner has shared his feelings after Max Verstappen won his first Formula 1 title in Abu Dhabi.
This Sunday’s race at the Yas Marina Circuit has had one of the most dramatic championship battle endings ever as Verstappen made an overtake on Lewis Hamilton on the final lap to become the champion.
After the race, Horner described how emotional he was during the last lap.
“I’ve lost my voice. I was screaming from turn 5, all the way down that back straight,” the Red Bull Racing team principal told Sky Sports.
“He [Verstappen] got the job done into [turn] 5, and then they were coming back on the straight with a slipstream, but you just knew that Max was not going to give it up.”
“He’s come so far this year and then to clear [Hamilton] and close it out across the line, and see him become the world champion for us after all these years… [It’s] an amazing feeling.”
