Sergio Perez admits that he is delighted with the fact he has managed to help Max Verstappen get the Abu Dhabi GP pole position.

Perez qualified 4th for the final race of the season, but he played a significant role in Verstappen’s pole. The Dutchman got slipstream from his teammate on a straight at sector 2 that helped him set the quickest lap time of the session.

Perez reflected on a successful qualifying for Red Bull Racing: “I think that was a great day.”

“We thought before qualifying that it was going to be extremely hard to get the Mercedes.”

“These things [tows], it only takes a little too much for it to go wrong. So, I’m very pleased that it worked out and that we were in a position to support Max to pole. It’s a very important pole for him, so we’re just looking forward to tomorrow.”
