Honda is praying for a positive weekend in Abu Dhabi with only one race standing before a possible 6th Drivers’ title.

Honda has claimed 6 Constructors’ and 5 Drivers’ Championships as a manufacturer. There’s been no shortage of glory for the Japanese company in its long F1 history. The manufacturer has appeared intermittently since its first entry in 1964.

However, Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s success in claiming the 2021 title would spell Honda’s first championship since 1991. Verstappen goes into the final race of the season equal on points with Lewis Hamilton.

The Honda F1 managing director Masashi Yamamoto expressed how meaningful this victory would be, 30 years since their previous triumph.

“Winning the titles has been our dream and we have progressed towards it step by step,” Yamamoto commented.

“Now, that dream is almost within our grasp, but I honestly do not know if we will be smiling or crying after Sunday’s race.”

“All our team members will go into this weekend, alongside our colleagues at Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri, ready to show Honda’s challenging spirit.”
