Valtteri Bottas admitted having ‘mixed feelings’ before the end of his Mercedes career at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Bottas will be replaced by George Russell for the 2022 Formula 1 season. The Finnish driver will move to Alfa Romeo alongside Guanyu Zhou.

Speaking before the final race of the season, Bottas admitted having mixed feelings due to failing to achieve some of his objectives, like winning the championship with the Silver Arrows. However, the Fin takes the positives.

“I think in this sport you’re never fully satisfied but yeah, in five years, I’ve achieved something and I’m sure that will help me in the future,” he said.

“[I have] mixed feelings. Obviously, when I joined the team in 2017, the only thing in my mind was to win the drivers’ championship.

“That didn’t happen, but I need to look at the positives; I’ve grown so much as a driver and as a human being, we’ve learned so much as a team and actually achieved some pretty cool things together.”
