Daniel Ricciardo has shared his thoughts about the ongoing fight for the 2021 world championship between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
This weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be the finale of the exciting 2021 Formula 1 season. For the first time in 47 years, the title protagonists enter the final race weekend of the year equal on points.
Ahead of the event at the Yas Marina Circuit, Ricciardo admitted that he enjoys the battle between Verstappen and Hamilton.
“It’s kind of what you hope for every year. You want a battle like this. You’ve got the veteran, [the] ‘most record holder’ Lewis, on one hand, and then you’ve got the youngest ever winner on the other,” the Australian said.
“So it’s a really cool battle, it’s a great story. Obviously, they’re going toe-to-toe, and it’s a real genuine battle.”
“[I have] some part of envy [from] not being a part of it but, ultimately, for the sport and as a fan of the sport, it’s a dream scenario.”
