Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc have shared their thoughts on the incident between them during last Sunday’s race in Jeddah.

The Saudi Arabian GP was full of incidents and some of them made a big impact on the race. On lap 15, during the restart after the red flag, Perez and Leclerc made contact. The Mexican hit the wall and had to retire from the race, while Leclerc went on to finish seventh. After the race, the episode was investigated by the stewards, but no one was punished for it.

The Mexican believes that it was difficult to avoid the accident: “I thought that Charles wasn’t there because there wasn’t any more space, but he was still there, so at that point I think he became a passenger.”

“There was nothing he could do or I could do differently and we tangled.”

The Ferrari driver also has his vision of what has happened: “I was on the outside and I’m pretty sure he saw me.”

“I think he probably thought I still had the choice of letting down, but the thing is that his rear wheel was there, so I had no choice and I tried to squeeze, and then his wheel is turned. Luckily for me, there wasn’t too much damage.”
