Valtteri Bottas reflected on a hectic race in Saudi Arabia, where he managed to grab the final podium spot.
Though he was not in contention for the win, Bottas still had an eventful race at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. He had to fight his way to the podium and made the crucial pass on Esteban Ocon for 3rd place on the final meters of the race.
The Finn questioned the strategy, claiming that the switch to hard tires was not the best decision for him.
“It was not an easy day, there were many obstacles obviously with the red flags and everything, it made it a bit tricky. And with the first red flag being on the hard tire was a mistake I think, some of the guys with the medium tires got me. But we went for the medium after and it was okay,” Bottas said.
“[I] just kept pushing, it wasn’t easy to overtake today, but finally, at the last straight I got the 3rd.”
The Mercedes driver admitted that he enjoyed driving around the new track and liked the race weekend in general.
“It’s a nice track, it’s a big challenge physically and mentally, but yeah, a good Grand Prix, looking forward to coming here next year,” he concluded.
