Formula 1 has provided an update regarding the sprint race format for the upcoming season during the Saudi Arabian GP.
Sprint races have made their debut in Formula 1 this year at three race weekends at Silverstone, Monza, and Interlagos. They have received controversial comments, but look to stay in the sport beyond 2021.
According to Motorsport.com, the F1 officials have told the teams about their intention to keep going with sprints during the meeting with the team principals. More than that, the events that are likely to have a sprint race are those in Bahrain, Emilia Romagna, Canada, Austria, the Netherlands, and Brazil.
At the same time, it is yet to be decided whether sprint races will actually be in 2022 as the discussions have only begun.
