Jehan Daruvala has received a penalty which earned him pole position for Formula 2’s second Sprint race.

The Stewards ruled Daruvala gained a lasting advantage when he cut across turn two and re-joined the track ahead of Dan Ticktum, with whom he was battling for the position.

Because of that, the Red Bull junior driver has been handed a 5-second time penalty which drops him from fifth to 10th in the final race classification. He was also awarded 1 penalty point.

Because the top ten from the first Sprint race are reversed to set the grid for the second, this penalty means Daruvala will start the final race on Saturday from pole position.
