Formula 1 motorsport director Ross Brawn said the sprint race at Interlagos was “the best one so far,” stating that the format helped Lewis after his disqualification from qualifying.

Details:

  • Interlagos was one of the three venues chosen to test the sprint qualifying format through the 2021 Formula 1 season.
  • Brawn believes the race gave Hamilton an opportunity, as the british driver started last but finished 5th, meaning he will start today’s race from P10.

What he said:

  • “The sprint was the best one so far with plenty of action and a great crowd to witness it all. The drama off the track created something fixating on it, with Lewis overtaking car after car.”
  • “Without the sprint he would be at the back for the grid for tomorrow’s [Sunday] race but instead he has a real change starting from 10th.”
