The starting grid for tomorrow’s Brazilian Grand Prix was decided with a Sprint qualifying race. If you want to know more about how it works, click here.
The start of the race saw a good getaway for Valtteri Bottas who quickly overtook Max Verstappen through turn 1 on the inside line. The latter struggled in the fight with Carlos Sainz who was menacing from behind, with the Ferrari coming victorious. This meant the Red Bull placed third ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez.
Later on, Kimi Raikkonen got spun around through turn 1 by his teammate Antonio Giovinazzi, with whom he had contact.
Further down the order, Lewis Hamilton, who had started last, placed P14 just 3 laps into the race. He joined the top 10 fight as he overtook McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo on lap 13, through turn 1 coming out of DRS.
The British driver continued to make moves through the race and finished in P5 behind Sergio Perez.
In the end, it was Valtteri Bottas who took the victory of the Sprint race (and therefore Pole position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix) with Max Verstappen in second and Carlos Sainz third.
