Lewis Hamilton admitted struggling through the qualifying session for the United States Grand Prix.

Why it matters: The Mercedes driver qualified in second place behind Max Verstappen.

Details:

  • Hamilton said Mercedes still has areas to improve, although admits he gave everything he could during today’s qualifying session.
  • The British driver admits it will be “a good race” into turn one, as he battles the championship lead with Verstappen.

What he said:

  • “I gave it everything, a bit of a struggle through qualifying. I think from FP1 onwards, we fell back a little bit. Those guys [Red Bull] were incredibly quick.”
  • “There are always areas we can improve, but that was everything we had. It’s good positioning for tomorrow so hopefully, it’ll be a good race into turn one. The mindset is to win the race.”
