Carlos Sainz is happy with his performance as he qualified fifth for tomorrow’s United States Grand Prix.

  • The Spaniard expressed feeling good in the car, claiming he was able to go comfortably fast.
  • Sainz admitted he could have risked in Q2 and fit the medium tires, showing concern that it might compromise them starting with the soft compound tomorrow.

What he said:

  • “It’s good news, I’ve had good feelings with the car. I’ve managed to go fast. In Q2 we didn’t risk enough by not fitting the mediums, we were the only ones with the softs and that might compromise us tomorrow.”
  • “We’ve done a good lap in Q3. We need to analyze what we could have done better in Q2, but the rest has been good. The objective was to take advantage of the soft compound, but the simulations say that the mediums are faster.”
