Fernando Alonso admits that his engine change decision was triggered by poor performance throughout the weekend.

  • The Spaniard will receive a grid drop penalty for tomorrow’s United States Grand Prix after fitting a new engine.

What he said:

  • “Today the mission was to do Q1 and help Esteban. We weren’t competitive throughout the weekend, that’s why we decided to change the engine. We’ve got tires for tomorrow that we’ve saved.”
