Lewis Hamilton topped the second practice session at Istanbul, followed by Charles Leclerc.
The second practice session at Istanbul Park took place in windy conditions impacting the drivers during their second outing of the day.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc set the pace early on the medium compound tires, achieving a time of 1:24.102 in the first ten minutes. He positioned his Ferrari eight tenths above the two Mercedes drivers and Sergio Perez.
Twenty minutes into the session, cars started recording times on soft tires as qualifying preparation. Lewis Hamilton topped the timing sheets by the halfway mark, setting a 1:23.804 lap time. Leclerc’s time followed closely behind with Bottas a few tenths shy of the Monegasque.
Turn 9 proved to be a tricky corner for drivers, with Nicholas Latifi spinning his Williams during the session. Many other drivers such as Lando Norris ran wide here, ruining their flying lap.
Track limits once again played a role in Friday afternoon’s practice session, with drivers such as Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Vettel having their lap times deleted after running too wide at turn 1.
No one could beat Hamilton for the remainder of the session. Even Red Bull found themselves slightly off the pace as both drivers ended up over half a second slower than Hamilton’s best time.
Towards the end of the session, drivers started runs on the medium and hard compounds once again, with Hamilton setting the pace on those tires as well. Leclerc was the closest to Hamilton on the medium compound, continuing to demonstrate Ferrari’s pace this weekend.
