Francesco Bagnaia has taken pole position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of The Americas after a dominant qualifying session.
Qualifying 1 saw Luca Marini take the best time with a 2:03.410, which was one tenth faster than Joan Mir in second.
The first qualifying session saw three fallers. The first was Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro, who suffered his fourth fall of the weekend. Miguel Oliveira and MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi quickly followed.
It initially looked as though Marc Marquez would retain his record of pole positions at the Circuit of the Americas, setting the initial fastest time of 2:03.209. Jorge Martin was in a close second, with LCR Honda rider Takaaki Nakagami in third.
In the end, qualifying 2 saw Francesco Bagnaia emerge as the fastest, taking pole position with a time of 2:02.781. Championship leader Fabio Quartararo took P2 in a distant three-tenths adrift. Marc Marquez took P3 with his record of poles at the Circuit of The Americas coming to an end.
