Antonio Giovinazzi is not backing down the fight to keep his seat for 2022 amid recent rumors.
Why it matters: The second Alfa Romeo seat that Giovinazzi currently resides in is the only seat that has not been filled for the 2022 season and is being heavily contested by numerous drivers.
- Among the drivers that are being considered, are F2 frontrunners Oscar Piastri, Guanyu Zhou, Theo Pourchaire, and 2021 Formula E champion Nyck de Vries.
What he had to say:
- “To be honest, for now, I want to focus to keep this seat in Formula 1,” Giovinazzi told Motorsport.com
- “Then if in the worst case, I would start to think about for next year. But for now, I just want to focus on my job here in F1, and try to keep my seat.”
- “The only thing I can do is just drive and get to more points and I hope that will be enough.”
