Red Bull’s Sergio Perez feels as though his result at the Russian GP was unlucky after losing a podium spot due to rain falling with five laps to go.
Why it matters: Perez’ P9 finish at the Russian GP marks his 4th result outside of the top 6 in the last 5 races.
Details:
- Late into the race, it looked as though Perez was well on his way to a podium before rain started falling.
- His teammate Max Verstappen had a contrasting fortune, going from P7 to P2 by the end of the race thanks to the late rain.
What he had to say:
- “Yes, it’s obviously very disappointing. I think we were extremely unlucky today. Could have gone either way really, you know. If it rained a little bit less, then the people on the inters would have [suffered].”
- “If it rained a bit more, it obviously favored then, I think at the point I was on the lap, it was a little bit too late to know, you know – the amount of rain we were going to have as well – so we were already on the podium, it was a tricky decision to make.”
