Groundbreaking ceremony has taken place at the venue of the new Aston Martin F1 factory.
Why it matters: It will be the first newly-built factory since McLaren Technology Center in 2004.
- New facility will be built in 18 months.
- Factory will consist of three blocks – design and manufacturing, wind tunnel, and central hub.
What they had to say:
- “Our new buildings reflect not only the scope of our determination to become a world championship-winning force, but also the scale of our growth and development as an organization,” executive chairman Lawrence Stroll commented.
- “Our existing Silverstone factory is a little piece of Formula 1 history – but, as an organization, we have outgrown it. What is more, we will require even more space as we continue to build our headcount over the next few years,” CEO and team principal Otmar Szafnauer added.
