Charles Leclerc finished fourth in a chaotic race at Monza and fought until the end against Valtteri Bottas, saying that it was one of his best performances.

Why it matters: Leclerc was busy on Sunday’s afternoon at Monza as he fought throughout the whole race and gave everything on a tough venue for the SF21.

  • Leclerc was happy with how Ferrari improved since last year, where the Scuderia’s home race was one to forget.

I gave it all, really everything. There was not much more [we could] do today. I mean every opportunity there was, I tried to take it.

Go deeper:

  • The only negative thing for both Ferrari and Leclerc is that McLaren scored a 1-2 finish, meaning that the Italian team is now 13.5 points behind in the standings.

What he had to say:

  • “It wasn’t the easiest of races, but at the end, if you look at where we were last year and where we were now, it’s a big step forward,” Leclerc said. “We need to keep working like this.
  • “On my performance, honestly, I rate it as [one of] my top five performances in Formula 1,” he added. “I felt like I had given absolutely everything, so on that I’m happy, but we need to keep working to be fighting for the win very soon.”
