Fernando Alonso thinks Zandvoort has shown that banked corners make racing more exciting.
Why it matters: Circuit Zandvoort has several banked corners, including Arie Luyendyk, which has 18-degree banking. The drivers have enjoyed driving through these sections.
- Alonso believes that banked corners are useful in a lot of driving aspects: “It helps speeding up the corners, it helps the tire management and the aerodynamics and everything, which we are not used to.”
- The Alpine driver also criticizes current approach to building race tracks. “In the last few years, we built circuits with off-camber corners, which was the opposite. And now we all are happily surprised with a banked corner.”
So yeah, it makes me even more sad why we built so many tracks with off-camberFernando Alonso
