Fernando Alonso said after qualifying that the strategy on Sunday is clear: be aggressive. However, he knows that after the first laps he will need to be more conservative.
Alonso only managed to qualify in P9, and he knows that if he wants to gain some position he will have to do it on the opening laps since overtaking at Zandvoort is very difficult.
“We have to be very aggressive in the first lap. From there, Monaco or Hungary style, where everything will be played around the stops. I don’t think there will be much action on the track.”
Since the overtaking opportunities will not be many, like in Monaco, Alonso hopes to play a good strategy and believes that either yellow or red flags will make a difference during the Grand Prix.
“The whole weekend has been a bit strange in terms of starts, yellow and red flags. Tomorrow there can be a lot of action, some safety car, you have to be attentive. So far we have gotten rid of all the problems well. Q3 is a good position, hopefully, we can overtake. I think overtaking is going to be very difficult,” he concluded.
