Helmut Marko supposes that Circuit Zandvoort suits Mercedes better than Red Bull Racing, though he thinks that they can fight back.
The race weekend in the Netherlands has got underway, and Lewis Hamilton has been the quickest in FP1, being slightly ahead of Max Verstappen. However, it has probably been expected by Red Bull as the team advisor Marko has shared that Mercedes looks to be better at Zandvoort.
“I think the circuit, with all those corner combinations, might be a better fit for Mercedes,” he told Kronen Zeutung.
At the same time, the Austrian is confident in Verstappen’s and Red Bull’s performance.
“But we have Verstappen, who will outperform himself in front of the Orange Army,” he added.
“It remains a close fight [and] nobody comes close to Max and Lewis right now. Our seven wins to Mercedes’ four shows that we are generally the faster team.”
