Max Verstappen said George Russell replacing Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes would “make it very difficult” for Lewis Hamilton.

Why it matters: Russell had one of the best performances while racing for Mercedes at the Sakhir Grand Prix, proving his real skills outside of his current team, Williams.

Details:

  • The community in general expects Russell to replace Bottas from the 2022 season onwards.
  • Toto Wolff already confirmed Mercedes made a decision on their 2022 line-up, but is yet to reveal who will race alongside Hamilton.

Quotes:

  • “He jumped into the car in Bahrain, and basically was already from lap one making it very difficult for Valtteri,” Verstappen said.
  • “I do expect him to do very well if he gets that seat.”
