Jack Doohan took the pole position in the Formula 3 qualifying at Spa Francorchamps in his Trident car.
At the beginning, the track was still rather wet. But that subsided in the course of qualifying and the conditions improved. Jack Doohan and Alex Smolyar were first on the track. The Australian immediately took the lead with the lap of 2:21.953, which he did not relinquish.
In the meantime, however, the rain became heavier and that was not good for the ART GP driver Frederik Vesti, who went off the track and had to stop his lap.
Logan Sargeant had the best time in wet conditions in sector 3 and moved up to P2 with a time of 2:22.775.
However, the track continued to dry and the MP Motorsport duo of Victor Martins and Caio Collet finished second and third, with only less than a tenth separating the two.
A few incidents also occurred. Juan Manuel Correa grazed the wall and sustained damage. However, the American was able to continue driving his car.
Shortly before the end of the session, Smolyar had two best sector times and advanced to P3, which he did not give up.
Red flag appeared with just under one minute to go when Tijmen van der Helm got stuck in the wall. The session was not resumed, which meant that Doohan took the pole position.
