Estaban Ocon admitted that despite the largely successful weekend at the Hungaroring, Alpine needs to be realistic heading into the second half of the season after the summer break.
While the Frenchman said that he is more than happy with his maiden victory, he expressed the desire for Alpine to be realistic when it comes to the team’s goals this season, come Spa-Francorchamps this week.
“Now is the time to focus on getting back into the season and that starts in Belgium. We enjoyed what happened in Hungary and of course repeating that feeling would be amazing, but we remain realistic and will do our best to achieve a solid result,” Ocon said.
“The weather [at Spa] can be interesting so, whether wet or dry, we will be ready to take advantage of any opportunity.
Ocon concluded by saying that winning a race in F1 was amazing and he did not expect it to happen. Plus, he enjoyed it a lot more since the summer break gave him the time to realize what happened.
“I did not expect to come back from the summer as the winner of the last race. It is still an incredible and special feeling. Also, it happened at the ideal moment, as I have spent the last two weeks relaxing with family and friends, getting used to the idea. I can assure you that it already seems real.”
